Under the framework of the project "Resilient Production, Marketing and Consumption of Cañahua and Tarwi" financed by the European Union, led by Swisscontact and implemented in Bolivia by the
PROINPA Foundation, a Field Day was held on 10 May in the community of Cotani - Acasio, where farmers shared experiences in the production and consumption of Tarwi, showing a set of Best Climate Change Resilient Agricultural Practices.
Cochabamba, Bolivia, May 17, 2021 - Those attending the event were able to learn about: bitter and sweet varieties of Tarwi, seed management, the use of bio-inputs for pest and disease control, obtaining quality seed from positive selection and semi-mechanised harvesting and post-harvest processes. They also tasted different foods prepared using Tarwi.
The event was attended by more than 100 farmers from different communities, the Municipal Mayor of Acasio, local authorities, institutions such as the Foundation against Hunger and representatives of PROINPA and SWISSCONTACT.
