Tarwi producers from the municipalities of Acasio and Anzaldo organised reinforcement workshops in the communities to consolidate the accompaniment work being carried out by the Local Innovators.

March 20, 2021 - Tarwi producers in the municipalities of Acasio and Anzaldo, with the support of the project "Resilient Production, Marketing and Consumption of Cañahua and Tarwi" funded by the European Union, led by Swisscontact and implemented in Bolivia by the PROINPA Foundation, are implementing Best Resilient Agricultural Practices (BRAPs) to respond in a timely manner to the onslaught of droughts, hailstorms, frosts, pests and diseases in the Tarwi crop, have been implementing Resilient Good Agricultural Practices (BPARs) to respond in a timely manner to the onslaught of droughts, hailstorms, frost, pests and diseases in the Tarwi crop, which have been accentuated due to Climate Change, and to improve the resilience capacity of their production systems.

In this context, reinforcement workshops are being held in the communities to consolidate the accompaniment work being carried out by the Local Innovators. As part of the knowledge reinforcement, the Cañahua and Tarwi calendar was provided, in which each of the BRAPs promoted by the project is described, emphasising their resilient nature.

The contribution of Tarwi cultivation to local agricultural systems and food security as a response to Climate Change was discussed in depth.

An overview was given of the properties and benefits of each of the Bio-inputs recommended for Tarwi and other crops in the production system, highlighting their preventive nature.
