Host an event at the EUROCLIMA pavilion
EUROCLIMA pavilion COP27
The EUROCLIMA pavilion opens for applications to host events at the UNFCCC COP27, Blue Zone, between the 6th to the 18th of November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, under the hospices of the EU flagship cooperation programme on environment and climate change with the Latin American and the Caribbean region EUROCLIMA.
This invitation is to apply to organize a morning event of 45 minutes linked to one of the 8 themes on the event’s agenda.
Application deadline is 28th August 2022.
The events form part of an orchestrated agenda of 8 themes for discussion with the objective to generate new visions and pathways for the Latin American and the Caribbean region. These strategic themes will be addressed from three framing questions to form the backbone of key messages and lines of action that will retrofit the afternoon debates and media channels outreach. The 8 themes are the following and each theme will be discussed in one day of events:
- Biodiversity and climate change: challenges and actions in agriculture, forestry, and protected areas.
- Gender equality and vulnerable groups in the framework of a just transition
- Energy transition versus energy supply. Can these processes work together?
- Access to Climate financing with a focus on adaptation
- Taking action for climate: citizen empowerment
- Disaster risks reduction and Early Warning Systems: learnings from the region
- Water and the risk climate change poses: how can the sector adapt and ensure water supply against changing global environments?
- Circular economy
We are looking for organisations, particularly from Latin America and the Caribbean, to host events with relevant insights and perspectives on one or more of the 8 themes selected. All events shall deeply connect with tangible and future looking actions for the Latin American and the Caribbean region at city, country and/or regional level. If your organisation belongs to one of the following groups, then this is an opportunity to apply to host an event:
- Civil society
- Think tanks and Academia
- Public sector
- Private sector
The pavilion is a space designed for dialogues, exchange and learnings, as to showcase climate action and the challenges the Latin American and the Caribbean region face. The pavilion will be hosted as the “Casa de América Latina y del Caribe” welcoming all delegates at COP27, being the convening space for delegates from the region and beyond.
The events are designed to host in-person roundtable style discussions for an audience of max. 50 people (capacity to be confirmed). The proposals can include hybrid-type of events as well. There is space for three morning events running after each other.
Key dates:
- Application period opens on 27th July
- Application period ends on 28th August
- Announcement of selection of events in mid-September
- Final event agenda publishes at the beginning of October
Event design summary:
- Events can be in-person or hybrid at the COP27 Blue Zone
- A single event slot lasts a maximum of 45 minutes
- The events will be framed within three questions linked to the theme of the day
- The event shall produce key messages and lines of action
- The suggested event formats are round-table discussions, facilitated conversations, open dialogues, etc.
- The events will be hosted in the mornings and there will be a maximum of 24 events (to be confirmed)
- The room may host about 50 delegates (to be confirmed)
- Language: Spanish, English, Portuguese
