The Programme works with the Paraguayan Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development on two actions for climate change adaptation and mitigation
Asunción, 24 October 2022 -. The EUROCLIMA Programme has participated in the event celebrating the International Day against Climate Change in Paraguay, the activity organised by the Paraguayan Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) that has inaugurated the Climate Week (22-28 October) in the Latin American country.
Through the National Directorate for Climate Change, MADES is organising different initiatives during this week to raise awareness of this problem, in which the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administration and Policy (FIIAPP) has collaborated as the implementing agency of the actions underway in Paraguay in the framework of the EUROCLIMA Programme.
The event of the International Day against Climate Change, which has counted on the participation of the Embassy of the European Union in Paraguay, the United Nations Development Programme and the ECODES Foundation, has included the launch of the Circular Economy Roadmap and several panel discussions that have analysed issues such as Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the Climate Scenario Viewer in Paraguay or the conceptualisation of losses and damages in the country.
EUROCLIMA has also been part of the activity "Pathways for Climate Action", a discussion developed together with the ECODES Foundation and the NGO association Decidamos Paraguay.
EUROCLIMA is working with the Paraguayan Government in the second round of country dialogue, with two actions for climate change adaptation and mitigation: support for the incorporation of adaptation into Paraguayan public policies and the promotion of the efficient use of biomass in SMEs. In addition to MADES, the latter action is developed in collaboration with the Vice-Ministry of Mines and Energy.
