New platform NDC LAC Marketplace Exchanges facilitates the exchange of experiences for NDC implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean

This innovative tool will allow countries in the region to boost the exchange of learning and best practices related to NDCs

Brussels, 17 October 2022. Peer-to-peer exchange is a substantive tool for contributing to climate action and to the processes of defining and updating climate commitments. In the diversity existing in the region, both in terms of institutional development and progress in the implementation of climate goals, all countries have strengths and needs to enhance the implementation of NDCs and other goals.

In this context, the new virtual platform NDC LAC Marketplace Exchanges, implemented by the EUROCLIMA programme through the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, ECLAC and the Avina Foundation, is proposed as an innovative solution to facilitate exchange processes between countries in the region and contribute to enhancing the implementation of NDCs through shared experiences and learning between Latin American and Caribbean countries; the compilation of the experiences of EUROCLIMA partner countries in the formulation and implementation of their NDCs (with a special emphasis on territorial and sectoral coordination); and the promotion of South-South learning according to the needs and strengths identified to support concrete progress in the implementation of NDCs.

Through the platform, the aim is to articulate the needs and experiences of countries in the region, highlighting activities, methodologies and learning around the process of developing or updating national climate targets, with demands for assistance in the stages of preparation, planning, financing, evaluation and monitoring, review and increasing the ambition of the NDCs.

During 2022, the Marketplace will facilitate the implementation of 8 positive experience exchanges. These will be supported by Fundación Avina, which has seed funding for this purpose. The period to apply and implement the exchanges is between August and October 2022.

The exchanges are open to all EUROCLIMA partner countries through their National Focal Points. Civil society (NGOs, academia, private sector, local governments, among others) may also participate in the exchanges by coordinating with their respective Focal Points. The request for exchanges must be submitted through the NDC LAC Marketplace Exchanges

Contact information for the various national focal points per country is available here: https://www.euroclima.org/en/mapas-2021-en

Applications are open throughout the month of October, and the platform also has a helpline via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
