Brussels, October 22, 2018. The United Nations Environment Programme and other sector organisations are holding the first Regional Exhibition on National Adaptation Plans for Latin America (NAP Expo). The event, in which EUROCLIMA+ is also participating, is being held on October 22 and 23 in Panama City, Panama.
The general objective of the NAP Expo is to facilitate interaction and experience exchanges among countries, organisations and institutions to advance the formulation and implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAP). The event is organised by: UN Environment, the Global Support Programme for National Adaptation Plans - UNDP-UN Environment (NAP-GSP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) ) and Panama’s Ministry of the Environment.
The exhibition is aimed at governments representing the Parties to the Convention, research centres and programmes, experts, international organisations, cooperation agencies, members of civil society and the private sector.
Within the NAP Expo framework, UN Environment with support from EUROCLIMA+, the European Union's flagship programme for climate change in 18 Latin American countries, will hold two specific sessions on Resilient Cities on October 22.
These sessions are aimed at specialists and government technicians from the region’s countries that are participating in EUROCLIMA+, members of research centres and programmes, international organisations, cooperation agencies, civil society actors and the private sector.
The objective of these sessions is to present innovative options for designing urban centres that are more integrated with the ecosystems where they are located, in order to contribute to the resilience of the population and ecosystem health. This through a political dialogue for cooperation that promotes experience exchanges and best practices.
