The participatory process for the ENACE in Argentina is moving forward.

Argentina consults on the National Action Strategy for Climate Empowerment, through a participatory process in all regions of the country.

Buenos Aires, September 6th - In the framework of the participatory process for the preparation of the National Action Strategy for Climate Empowerment in Argentina (ENACE), which the country is developing with the support of the EUROCLIMA+ programme, through the FIIAPP, four public workshops have been held according to the regions defined by the Federal Environment Council (COFEMA): NOA (Tucumán, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Salta, La Rioja and Jujuy), NEA (Chaco, Corrientes, Formosa, Misiones, Entre Ríos and Santa Fé), Patagonia (Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz, Chubut, Rio Negro, Neuquén and La Pampa) and Centro y Cuyo (San Juan, Córdoba, CABA, San Luis, Mendoza and Buenos Aires).

These sessions aim to present the development of the ENACE as a national public policy, to obtain inputs from a regional entity to add to the ENACE, to include the federal character of the Nation in the participation, to collect regional information for the development of the ENACE and to bridge the digital divide through the possibility of face-to-face participation in the process.

In addition to these regional workshops, the opportunity has arisen to generate other participatory spaces in the territory, such as meetings with civil society organisations to share the ENACE guidelines and details about the construction process with non-governmental organisations in the province, to seek alliances for the participation and dissemination processes and to invite participation in the Public Consultation and self-supported workshops for the collaborative construction of the ENACE.

Finally, the process has also held an international cooperation meeting between Argentina and Uruguay, which has allowed sharing of the ENACE guidelines and details about the construction process with non-governmental organisations in the province, and linking strategies within the framework of ACE's international cooperation component.

The National Action Strategy for Climate Empowerment (ENACE) is a cross-cutting proposal that cuts across all public policies in the country. The objective is to generate and articulate capacities and skills that promote transformative action in tackling climate change, with the depth, importance and urgency that this challenge requires.

Argentina is developing its ENACE to promote cross-cutting issues of strategic interest. It is planned to be built collectively based on the principles of federal, egalitarian, intercultural and intergenerational citizen participation and on a perspective of Latin American environmental thought for a critical and transformative environmental education.
