On Wednesday 03 August 2022, the 29th virtual exchange session of the Community of Practice on Climate Policy Monitoring and Evaluation (CoPME)
took place under the title "Climate Change and Nature-based Solutions (NbS)". The session, the first in a series that will address this topic, aimed to present key concepts of NbS, their link with NDCs in LAC and to share experiences from some countries, starting with Panama. There were three presentations: an introduction to the key concepts of NbS and their link to climate change by Maria Laura Piñeiros, project coordinator at IUCN Latin America; an analysis of the NbS in the climate commitments of Latin America and the Caribbean and a taxonomy proposal for their classification by Mauricio Luna Rodríguez, Senior Regional Advisor of GIZ/ Euroclima+ Programme and the progress in mainstreaming the concept of NbS in the NDCs of Panama by Eymmis Jaén of the Ministry of Environment of Panama.
