The 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held from 1 to 12 November in Glasgow, Scotland.

5 October 2021. Brussels, Belgium. For the second time EUROCLIMA+, the European Union's flagship programme on climate change, will have a more proactive participation during COP26 as the Programme Pavilion has been confirmed within the blue zone, where representatives of organisations, agencies and countries will meet to carry out exchanges, share experiences and hold multilateral meetings.

In this context, the European Union - through an alliance of commitment and cooperation of the EUROCLIMA+ programme with 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean - will be facilitating the presentation of 43 events in total.

"With EUROCLIMA+ we aim to generate enabling conditions and drive processes for sustainable transformation through the implementation and updating of the NDCs, which is why we are convinced that by facilitating spaces for conversation, analysis and reflection - such as the one we will have during COP26 - we are also contributing to this objective we have", says Felice Zaccheo, Head of Unit of the European Union's Directorate-General for International Partnerships.

A total of 150 proposals were received from different organisations, agencies and partner countries to participate with events within the EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion. All were systematised and reviewed by a technical team within the Programme, which analysed and contacted those responsible for each one. After a detailed review process, and taking into account the priorities of the region and the objectives of the Programme, 43 proposals were selected.

It should be noted that several of the events finally admitted were the result of the merger of various proposals received. In this way, an attempt was made to integrate most of the requests received from the entire Latin American and Caribbean region.

In line with the diversity that characterises Latin America and the Caribbean, the activities that will take place in the EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion will address some of the most relevant challenges for the region and will have the perspective of different strategic sectors for climate action.

As was achieved at the previous COP, this year the EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion is expected to become the "House of Latin America and the Caribbean" and to be the meeting place for representatives of national governments, local authorities, cooperation agencies, academia and non-governmental organisations.
