Brussels, July 25, 2018. The EUROCLIMA+ Programme, within the framework of the Climate Governance component and with the collaboration of the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administration and Policy (FIIAPP) and the LEDS LAC Regional Platform, will hold an in-person session of the Community of Practice for Monitoring and Evaluation of Climate Policies, on the morning of August 1 in Santiago de Chile.

The Community of Practice has allowed experts from the ministries of environment, planning, finance and other governmental sessions entities with responsibilities in the monitoring and evaluation of climate policies to hold to experience exchange sessions. Its activity started last May and several meetings have taken place with the participation of 14 of the 18 countries that are part of EUROCLIMA+, the European Union's flagship programme for climate change in Latin America.

The session "Monitoring and Evaluation of Climate Policies" that will be held on August 1 in Santiago, Chile, will be the last one for this Community of Practice and it will focus on national-territorial articulation for the monitoring and evaluation of climate policies. It will also serve to share experiences, learn about tools, and learn from best practices and lessons learned from other countries.

From July 31 to August 3, EUROCLIMA+ will also carry out and support other activities aimed at institutional strengthening of climate governance in Latin American countries and the insertion of capacities into the public institutions of these countries:

  • July 30-31. Community of Practice start-up workshop on the involvement of the private sector in climate policy processes in Latin America. Co-organized by the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and the LEDS LAC Regional Platform.
  • August 1 (in the afternoon) until August 3: First Dialogue between pairs of countries EUROCLIMA+ / VII LEDS LAC Regional Workshop. Co-organized by LEDS LAC, GIZ, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Avina Foundation.

EUROCLIMA + offers a wide range of specialized services aimed at supporting the implementation of the commitments of the Paris Agreement in the field of climate governance, financing and technical assistance for project execution with Latin American countries on: Forests, biodiversity and ecosystems; Energy efficiency; Water management with an urban resilience perspective; Management and reduction of disaster risk; Urban mobility and resilient food production. The Program is implemented through the synergistic work of seven agencies.
