Community of Practice "ArticuLAC" starts its third year of work with representatives of 52 organisations from 13 Latin American countries

This year's work focuses on aligning private sector climate action with national goals and strategies.

San José, Costa Rica, 8 July 2021. This week marks the start of the third year of the Community of Practice on Public-Private Articulation for Climate Action (ArticuLAC), which will bring together representatives of 52 organisations from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay, to exchange experiences, strengthen capacities and generate new knowledge to promote the alignment and collaboration of governments and the private sector in the region in the formulation and implementation of climate and green recovery policies.

ArticuLAC is a joint initiative of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme through the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the LEDS LAC Regional Platform and the Latin American Centre for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) of INCAE Business School. It was launched in 2018 with the objective of promoting the creation and consolidation of spaces and mechanisms for the systematic participation of the private sector in the formulation and implementation of climate policies in the countries of the region, and the alignment of business climate action with national strategies and goals. This year's work will have a special emphasis on this last point.

The Community involves private sector organisations that have initiatives related to climate action, government institutions that must coordinate with the private sector to design or implement policies, programmes or projects related to climate action and green recovery, as well as technical and academic institutions that develop activities related to this issue. This year's 52 member institutions were selected through a broad call for applications carried out during the months of May and June of this year.

Over the coming months, ArticuLAC members will participate in virtual exchange sessions, workshops, and training sessions, and collaborate on the development of knowledge products, such as a practical guide based on public-private articulation experiences in the region and policy briefs on relevant topics that will be discussed in the virtual sessions and working groups. In addition, webinars and other activities open to a wider audience will be organised to disseminate learning and integrate the perspectives of other actors.
