All the useful information, news about the associations of communal aqueducts and how they work for a more integrated management of water resources in Costa Rica, in one place. Get to know the EUROCLIMA Urban Water Resilient ASADAS project website.
July 25, 2023. San José, Costa Rica. EUROCLIMA's Resilient ASADAS project in Costa Rica launched its website, a space that makes available to the Costa Rican Associations of Communal Aqueducts (ASADAS), and the public, all the resources generated throughout the project.
This new site contains news related to the project's work, multimedia material created, training materials and technical tools, as well as publications on social networks.
For Sara Cascante, coordinator of the Resilient ASADAS project and part of the Environmental Law and Natural Resources Center (Cedarena) team, this website "is important as a tool for consulting all the information that has been generated in the project's activities. The ASADAS can use the site to learn about results and progress, as well as to find complimentary documentation and support for their different organizational processes. It is expected that the site will continue to be used not only by the project's ASADAS, but also by other community aqueducts and community water management actors.
The website is constantly being updated and will reflect all the progress being made by the 60 ASADAS involved in the Resilient ASADAS project. According to Cedarena's Esteban Monge, "the site gives an account of everything that has been done and makes it available to anyone interested. In the past we have participated in very important processes, but the products or materials generated remain only in the hands of those who were involved at the time; in Resilient ASADAS we will leave everything published for open use".
The Resilient ASADAS Project started in 2021, thanks to the support of the Urban Water sector of the EUROCLIMA program of the European Union. This sector is implemented by the French Agency for Development - AFD and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation - AECID. The objective of the project, managed by Cedarena with the support of the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewerage (AyA) and the Regulatory Authority of Public Services (ARESEP), is to strengthen and develop resilience in 60 Communal Aqueducts to face the consequences of climate change.
