1.4 million for the Strengthening of the territorial approach and water governance in Andean mountain cities: case of the Atriz Valley Water Region - RHVA, Colombia.
Bogotá, Colombia, November 18, 2019. The EUROCLIMA+ programme in the framework of the sector inherent to "Water management with an urban resilience perspective" organised the first meeting between the French Development Agency (AFD) and the main partners of the project selected for the agreement: Strengthening the territorial approach and water governance in Andean mountain cities, as a strategy of urban resilience to climate change: Case of the Atriz Valley Water Region - RHVA, Colombia.
The meeting took place on October 10 and 11. During the first day of the meeting, the actors involved in this initiative were introduced - CORPONARIÑO, Fundación Grupo Social, EMPOTANGUA, and Universidad Mariana, among others - and the Steering Committee led by the Mayor's Office of Pasto was formed.
By delegation of the latter, the agreement will be signed between the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Empresa Regional de Obras Sanitarias de Pasto, EmpoPasto, a provider of domestic public services and basic sanitation, committed to ensuring its users the integrated management of water aimed at environmental protection and the promotion of quality services.
During the second day, field visits were made in the areas of interest of this agreement. The tour allowed AFD representatives to get to know the territories where the main actions of the project will be implemented. "Knowing the intervention zones was very relevant for a better understanding of the project and a global vision of the expected impacts", commented Vincent Merme, Technical Advisor of the EUROCLIMA+ programme for AFD, who concluded by stating that the mission not only achieved the planned objectives but also confirmed the efficiency of the technical team that has been formed.
