Reducing carbon emissions is no longer enough to lessen the impacts of climate change. The climate crisis is a fact and its effects are already materialising, it is necessary to adapt to a warming planet. The Paris Agreement itself includes, for the first time, a Global Adaptation Goal.

In this context, EUROCLIMA+, in collaboration with UNEP, promotes the generation and dissemination of knowledge to develop Nature-based Solutions for adaptation to build resilience and recover natural ecosystems. This approach, which uses ecosystem services as part of an adaptation strategy, protects vulnerable communities from the effects of climate change. It also provides a variety of ecological benefits as crucial to human well-being, such as clean water and food supply.
