The Regional Meeting on Climate Change and Gender Equality will be held virtually through various sessions throughout the month of September 2021. These sessions will showcase experiences, good practices, challenges and opportunities for integrating gender equality into climate action in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and the roadmap of the Gender Action Plan 1 (GAP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The event is organized by the government of Chile, in its capacity as COP25 Presidency through its Ministries of Environment, Foreign Affairs, Women and Gender Equality, and is developed thanks to the support of the European Union, through its EUROCLIMA+ Program and the technical support of ECLAC as key strategic partners in climate action and to connect the dots between the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The project also has the collaboration of the EUROSOCIAL+ Program, United Nations System in Chile, and the financial contribution of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The meeting geared to national, regional and global decisionmakers, academia, the media and civil society. Reflection and presentation on experiences aimed at mainstreaming gender perspective in instruments and means for implementing climate policy are being formulated and/or approved in Latin America and the Caribbean.

El evento tiene como objetivo compartir una guía sobre los elementos de género claves para los países que están a) actualizando sus NDC, b) diseñando nuevas políticas climáticas y/o c) desarrollando estrategias sectoriales para responder a los impactos climáticos. Para ello, el evento se centrará en resaltar los esfuerzos realizados en la región, identificar lecciones aprendidas, y analizar las buenas prácticas identificadas por los diferentes países en la región.
El intercambio de experiencias entre los expertos en estos temas de interés, integrantes de organizaciones de jóvenes activistas y poblaciones indígenas, se dará a través de una serie de cuatro conversatorios virtuales, donde los diferentes puntos de vista servirán para analizar los actuales retos sociales y climáticos, con el fin de proponer soluciones efectivas para el desarrollo sostenible en Bolivia.
Un webinar sobre la promoción de soluciones participativas e integradoras que pueden enmarcarse en un plan de igualdad de género y generar beneficios y co-beneficios en las comunidades urbanas.
El webinar busca ofrecer un espacio para presentar y discutir las oportunidades y desafíos en la formulación e implementación de políticas de adaptación y mitigación del cambio climático que incluyan una perspectiva de género.
