A virtual seminar promotes the gender approach in the project "Risk management without borders" of the EUROCLIMA+ programme.

Piura - Loja , May 18, 2020. Despite the difficult moment the world is going through due to the COVID-19 health emergency, the EUROCLIMA+ Programme continues to work on various awareness-raising, training, and logistics activities, through the binational project "Risk Management without Borders" in the territories of the Piura region in Peru and the province of Loja in Ecuador.

Therefore, in order to promote and recognise the importance of achieving gender equality and empowering women in disaster risk management, a virtual support window has been opened to provide technical support to the project, in order to achieve gender mainstreaming in its activities.

This webinar seeks to generate reflections on the capacities and progress of the project, at the level of the districts of the Piura region in the country of Peru, as well as cantons and parishes in the province of Loja (Ecuador). This effort will be carried out through two virtual training sessions, which will be directed to those who comprise the project’s coordination and technical team, as well as, allies and political decision makers. The sessions will be led by Ana Victoria Rojas Genen, the gender specialist.

The first session will be held on May 25, at 9:00 a.m., prior to which a virtual survey will be conducted in order to collect the areas of interest and experiences of the people in the project regarding the topic of gender mainstreaming in risk management and reduction projects.
