Objective:

Implement the Drought Information System for Southern South America (SISSA). The availability of drought information, together with improvements in regional institutional capacities, planning and preparedness, and risk management governance, will contribute to reducing the considerable economic, social and environmental impacts of drought on agricultural production, hydropower generation, and river navigation in southern South America.

Beneficiaries:

Governments, non-governmental and private institutions, and individuals in the six project countries

Expected results

-Contribution to risk management governance through collaborative development of national drought preparedness and response policies. -Strengthen vulnerable border communities by preparing them for risk reduction in facing natural events such as droughts and floods.

- Improved institutional capacities to produce and disseminate relevant and applicable information on droughts in southern South America.
