Brussels, July 10, 2018. The final list of projects eligible for funding under EUROCLIMA+ for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management has already been published
The five projects selected will be allocated 7.5 million euros to strengthen capacities for risk management due to droughts and flooding in Central America, the South American Pacific coast and Cuba, according to sources from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The call for projects was launched in July 2017 by AECID and the French Development Agency (AFD), two of the seven implementing agencies of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme. The objective is to contribute to the objectives and priorities for action indicated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, and to strengthen governance capacity and resilience of societies.
By the September 30, 2017 deadline, 192 proposals were received and a total of 186 were accepted. The call had the participation of the 18 beneficiary countries of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme in the Latin American region.
The proposals were evaluated according to pre-established “Evaluation Criteria” and the rules of the call for projects:
- Relevance of the proposed Project and coherence with public policies
- Quality of the proposed Project
- Regional impact
- Potential for regional learning
- Innovative character
The technical evaluation of the projects was carried out by a mixed evaluation committee, consisting of officials from AECID and AFD, with the participation of the European Union as an observer. The committee identified five projects eligible for funding by EUROCLIMA+.
