The Community of Practice on Climate Policy Monitoring and Evaluation (CoP M&E), an initiative of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme implemented through the Foundation FIIAPP, with the support of the LEDS LAC Platform was created in 2018 to address the need identified in Latin American countries for robust, well-built and practical systems for monitoring and evaluating climate policies and their action plans. These systems are key to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of adaptation and mitigation processes, incorporating new information and lessons learned, as well as to verify and report in a transparent manner on compliance with the commitments made before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement and other multilateral agreements.
With this in mind, and with the participation of representatives from 17 Latin American countries, for two years, the M&E CoP has organised virtual exchange sessions and face-to-face meetings to exchange experiences and strengthen capacities on priority issues such as governance of M&E systems, the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework, adaptation metrics, and others.
