Objective
To draft a Regional Mobility and Logistics Plan to improve the times and conditions for the movement of people and goods, favouring non-motorised modes of transport and sustainable public transport
Challenges in the region
- The Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista is one of the most important in Brazil due to its ports, industrial, and tourist areas, which demand mobility actions to address urban growth
- The growth in private car use generates traffic that affects public and freight transport
- Municipal and inter-municipal transport in the metropolis is deficient in quality and the quantity of bicycle use has been reduced in recent years, representing just over 10% of total journeys
