Since 2010, on the basis of the agreements made at the Fifth Summit of the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC), held in Lima in May 2008, the two regions have worked together to face climate change through the EUROCLIMA programme. Given the programme’s many achievements and the great environmental challenges to come, the countries of the LAC region and the European Union have chosen to join forces in a new regional cooperation effort by implementing a broader programme—EUROCLIMA+

Is the COVID-19 economic recovery building a sustainable future?

This report presents intermediate results of a broader analysis of the economic responses to the COVID-19 crisis in the LAC region, and how the allocated investments can accelerate the economic recovery phase while meeting climate change goals. The report has been developed thanks to an investment tracking tool, the LAC Recovery Tracker, which analyses over 1,100 policies to provide a live snapshot on spending in the region. The LAC Recovery Tracker is a subset of the larger Global Recovery Observatory.i

El sector agroalimentario frente al COVID-19 Experiencias de algunos proyectos en América Latina

En este documento se describe el contexto sobre la pandemia y los desafíos estructurales en la región; se menciona la metodología del estudio realizado; se cita la información sobre los proyectos en curso; y se describen las acciones de respuesta que las organizaciones ejecutoras de los proyectos PRA vienen llevando a cabo para continuar con sus actividades en el sector agropecuario. Finalmente, se presentan reflexiones finales para compartir con actores de la cooperación al desarrollo que enfrentan el desafío de adecuar la asistencia técnica en tiempos de pandemia.

GREEN ECONOMIC RECOVERY

The project “Green Economic Recovery: Mobilizing investments towards a low-emission and climate-resilient economy in Latin America and the Caribbean” aimed to support selected LAC countries (Argentina, Costa Rica, Grenada, Honduras and Panama) to address the main barriers faced by countries when designing, planning and financing post-COVID-19 recovery plans aligned with the Paris Agreement.
