JRCedificioThe Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC), through the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES), works together with IICA in the implementation of Component 3: Sustainable Agriculture, food security and climate change.

JRC's Objetive: Disseminates and deepens knowledge on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD) and applies bio-physical and bio-economic models for agricultural systems and policy analysis for Latin America (Result 3).

 

JRC's responsibilities include:

• Define together with EUROCLIMA national focal points and expert network, new priorities for research on DLDD and develop the corresponding models and tools.

• Accomplish knowledge transfer through the update, maintenance and transfer to Latin American partners of the DLDD information system developed under EUROCLIMA in its first phase.

• Achieve capacity building and South-South cooperation on DLDD through case studies, workshops and specific training sessions.

• Carry out context-specific bio-physical modelling for crop yield estimation under climate change.
