iicasedeThe Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) works together with JRC in the implementation of Component 3: Sustinable Agriculture, food security and climate change.

IICA's Objective: Reinforces the  agricultural sector’s capacity in Latin America to adapt this sector to climate change and to mitigate its effects and therefore contribute to food security in the region (Result 3).

IICA's responsibilities include:

• Identify and disseminate best practices of adaptation to climate change and mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in agriculture, validated on basis of climate change scenarios, biophysical and socio-economic conditions, for officials and technicians of the agriculture and other sectors in the region. 

• Strengthen the technical capacities of officials and technicians of the agriculture and other sectors in the region regarding knowledge and implementation of good agricultural practices and appropriate technical innovations through forums / virtual courses and regional and sub​​-regional workshops. 

• Fortalecer las capacidades técnicas de los Puntos Focales de los países miembros del Programa  EUROCLIMA, funcionarios y técnicos del sector agrícola y otros sectores afines con respecto al conocimiento y la implementación de buenas prácticas agrícolas e innovaciones técnicas apropiadas a través de foros/cursos virtuales y talleres regionales y sub-regionales..

• Develop and disseminate an interactive database of agriculture, food security and climate change and exchange information with other institutions for officials and technicians of the agriculture and other sectors in the region.
